Pierce Apparatus has been chosen to build a new fire engine for Burton Fire District. Construction of the cab began this week and they were nice enough to share some photos with us of the work in progress.

Engine 822 responded to an unusual call today when a passenger vehicle struck a farm tractor on Trask Parkway. Crews arrived to find parts from both the vehicle and the tractor scattered on the roadway.

Accident Closes the Broad River Bridge

A bad accident closed the Broad River Bridge today when two trucks collided. A SCDOT truck overturned and a tow truck sustained severe damage in the accident.

Crews Catch Multiple Boats off in Shell Point

Just after noon today, E823 was dispatched to a report of "multiple boats on fire" in the vicinity of Grant and Jefferson Streets in Shell Point. A large amount of smoke was visible from Parris Island Gateway during the response.

Burton Fire District Trains with Parris Island on their Flashover Simulator

Burton Fire District crews spent the last few weeks training on Parris Island with Parris island Fire/Rescue on their new Flashover Simulator. This simulator allows firefighters in a controlled environment to experience and feel conditions leading up to a potential flashover.

Vehicle Accident Closes Carolina Avenue

An early morning vehicle accident closed Carolina Avenue for several hours after a vehicle struck a utility pole sending wires across the roadway. The driver lost control and struck the pole breaking it into 3 pieces.
